8. Whole Wheat Bread

Whole wheat is preferable to wheat that is refined, there’s no uncertainty about that. The biggest problem we’ve with whole wheat is that it isn’t totally made from whole grains.

The grains are pulverized into quite fine flour, which makes it easy to digest, and this hence spikes blood sugar. This really is not any different from eating white bread.

Actually, experts have measured the glycemic index (a measure of how quick foods spike blood sugar levels) in whole wheat bread and it’s just as high as in white bread. The only difference between white bread and whole wheat bread is that whole wheat bread has more nutrients than white bread and a little more fiber, but it won’t do anything for you if you desire to lose weight.
